Felgah and maaz venting thread

In high school.

and he has a strong arm

Question… Would you rather see a receiver like Edelman Myers or Sanu throw an incompletion on a reverse pass, option pass, etc.

Or watch Brady throw a frustrated overthrow incompletion blaming his receiver?

The result is the same but is it really? Hmmmm…

Brady. 100%. And if not Brady, then Stidham. And if not him, then Kessler.

A gimmick play works occasionally because you catch the defense napping.

The more you do it, the less likely it succeeds.

In all for innovation, but what you are proposing isn’t innovation. Its grasping at straws.

it makes fun conversation on a fan site but in real life you do not take Tom Brady off the field for a gimmick play, you just don’t.

IF you take Tom off the field, the greatest gain you get is possibly a burnt time-put while the other team adjust to the players on the field.

Aaah… … incorrect. If you do the math. Brady had 25 incompletions yesterday and more the previous week as his 2 week completion percentage is 50%. That means ,40 or so opportunities for big plays that were wasted since the stale offense keeps knocking it’s head against the wall . Watching it causes fans to do the same.

Simple answer is subbing into a new look package and give the 42 year old a rest while preventing another knockdown or hit that is giving him QB jitters. If you already are tipping off your runs by subbing in Michel why not sub in a running QB as another threat? Hmmmm…

Innovative offense 101. Outside the box. But also logical

So the Patriots should use their collective psychic powers to anticipate all of Brady’s incompletions and then run either someone who hasn’t played QB since HS or a 33 year old former college option QB who hasn’t been an actual option QB in 10 years out there as our version of Lamar Jackson?

Maybe they could run Stephon Gilmore out there. He was a HS option QB. Best of both worlds that way.

Anticipation is based on proven pattern . So you just accept that a reverse pass option package will have a better chance of success than 50% and you run a scheme of about 10-12 plays off that package which keep defense guessing. . Brady MCD failure rate would then likely decline since it should be a wake up call to the entire offense . Especially Brady.

Added benefit is any offensive production without Brady is part of an evolution toward a future scheme with someone else. They almost drafted Lamar…

Makes so much sense that it’s knocking MCD upside the head. But he’s gotta check with the stale system committee .

I do not accept that assertion. You can’t just make up stats or decide something will work 50% of the time.

Every single time you take Tom Brady off the field every member if the opposing defense would know that some gimmick was coming. It would fail. And it would fail spectacularly. Neither Julian Edelman nor Jakobi Meyers are in the same ballpark as Lamar Jackson in terms of athletic talent. Putiing them out there as a QB multiple times a game would get them killed.

I would argue that Brady’s problems this year haven’t been that he isn’t capable of making Bradyesque plays anymore. Its that he just hasn’t been able to do it consistently. If this less efficient Tom Brady is the new norm, then he needs to be getting every single chance he can. You can’t afford to take even 1 snap away from him.

I’m pretty sure you’re just trolling me now.

Nope… I’m just debating from an outside the box platform. Makes people inside the Brady box kinda snippy. It’s not that crazy to take a 50 % QB off the field. Listen to yourself. The system as currently constituted has caused this failure rate.

Your anticipated meltdown of a different scheme is premature since any play has some merit if it’s practiced and executed using that extra blocker or extra faker… We even saw a pass completed from a punter to a kicker… Haha.

You’re not talking about running a trick play or two per game. You’re talking about 12-15 plays a game where the offense doesn’t flow thru an actual QB. In those plays you would either have to

  1. take Brady off the field completely, which would be noticed immediately by the opposing defense and would kill any chance of surprising anyone

Or

  1. leave Brady on the field as a WR split way out wide or something which would eliminate the extra blocker.

You gain no advantage in either scenario.

It is when you don’t have a better option. Nothing you’ve suggested even comes close to being a better option.

Brady on the field with having actual practice time with his whole offense will provide a much better option. He hasn’t had that this year. Not even close.

We’ve seen this movie before. SB or bust baby.

Different is better. That’s your first advantage.

It’s a football play package… i.e. Not a porn movie with your neighbors cousin… Try it…

You have 2 examples in the league already. Ravens and saints. Even the Texans used it and scored a TD against them.!! . Copy it.

did the Patriots ever run the wildcat?

Pretty sure the answer is no. They don’t follow one year trends. They just win.

That said, this D does seem to have some trouble with running qbs this year.
