Where is TE3? Our eaglet adventurer fledged on July 10 at 7:02 AM, making a short but powerful flight to a branch in an adjacent tree. Since then, she’s been busy learning to fly. Flying, like walking, is instinctive, but skill is learned.

July 12, 2025: TE3 has been on the wing for two days and is exploring new parts of the nest tree and the tree next to it. Clown antics ensue!
July 13, 2025: TE3 preparing for her first big adventure away from the immediate vicinity of her nest! Note her white wingpits - classic juvenile plumage.
July 15, 2025: TE3 has been on the wing for five days and is beginning to soar!
July 15, 2025: I loved this glimpse of TE3’s face! If not friend, why friend-shaped? 
July 18, 2025: Mom, Mom, Mom! TE3 is learning about flight from her parents, half siblings, turkey vultures, hawks, and peregrine falcons. But her parents remain a primary motivator and she chases them or screeches every time she see them.

July 18, 2025: These tender moments are very sweet. Young can become very aggressive towards their parents and two or three weapon-wielding, adult-sized fledglings with an attitude can be very intimidating. But Mrs. T can enjoy a little personal time with just one, especially when she’s so well-fed.
July 27, 2025: Enjoy that sweet face now! As of this post, TE3 is still spending most of her time within 1-1.5 miles of the nest and her nights at home. Based on our transmitters studies and other research, that will change at about 30 days on the wing.

It drives me nuts 
I work right through it I go for lunch at 12, so maybe I can watch an hour of it, but otherwise I miss the entire thing. So stupid…
