Still have something to play for

The Bruins may be locked into second place in their division, but they still should be trying to pick up these last four points. From the Playoff Page at NHL.com:

Blockquote In the Conference Finals and Stanley Cup Final, home-ice advantage goes to the team that had the better regular-season record – regardless of the teams’ final standing in their respective divisions.

That means that if the Bruins finish the regular season ahead of Calgary and Washington then they would have Home Ice Advantage against those two teams (and everyone else), should they manage to win their first two playoff rounds.

With tonight’s win over the Wild, the Bruins have clinched at least the third-best record in the league.

They are tied with Calgary for second place in points, but Calgary holds the ROW tiebreaker.

They play Tampa last, and they have absolutely NOTHING to play for.

True.

When I was down there a month ago, Bolts fans were talking about them having a shot at the Canadiens’ single season point record, which is 132 according to Wikipedia.

However, Tampa Bay has “only” 126 points with one game to go.
