no that starts long after the flowers bloom and the leaves fill the trees.

So next week?

Nahhh … bullshit.

Everyone in Colorado knows that playoffs start right after the third-to-last blizzard of the season.

Playoffs soon lol. I still enjoy regular season, but I agree it’s a long season.

Oilers and flames last night was some old time hockey!! Just a beautiful rival. Only wish Edmonton would have won.

Oilers beat the Blues. Just saying. Kind of a big deal.

Blues are acting like they intend to defend their Championship, so that is an accomplishment.

Ya they won’t be easy competition for anyone come playoffs. They are a strong team this year.

Broons seem to be coming out of their slump. That All-Star Break might have gotten them back on track.

Ya happens with lots of teams in second half of the season!

The battle of Alberta has been beautiful to watch this year. Pretty much a bench brawl last night.

A friend of mine was at the Yotes-Oil matchup in Glendale, AZ this evening.

He sent me this picture, right after a Yotes’ goal.

Oh, by the way, he asked me to tell @TylerD “Take THAT, Oiler-Boy!!!”

Lol!!! Looks like some good seats. I’m jealous.

Also sweet living in Arizona. They get tickets from cereal boxes lol hahahahahha jk. Was a brutal game last night. I fell asleep in the third.

Yeah, I get that you were joking, but I’ve now been to games in Phoenix and Tampa Bay, and the “Snowbird Effect” on ticket sales is significant. If a team from Canada or the Original Six (or both) is in town, between one quarter and one half the fan jerseys will be for that team, as opposed to the home club.

I’m pretty sure that’s why Bettman put the two Florida teams in the same division with Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, and Detroit.

Edit: Notice how the Yotes’ arena is named after an Indian Tribe? Actually, it’s named after their string of Casinos.

Ya it is what it is. Hockey just doesn’t do well in hot places unfortunately. Also Arizona hasn’t been a playoff team for years, so that doesn’t help any. Tampa has good fan base because they have been so good for so long. Arizona has some catching up to do lol.

Bullshit Canadian Propaganda.

Here is a list, from Wikipedia, of the top 15 (of 31) NHL teams in attendance as a percentage of building capacity. Two of the top five (Vegas and Nashville) are from “hot places,” as are 6 of the 15. That’s 40% of the top half of the whole NHL.

You know who is dead dog last? Your Ottawa Senators.

Nashville has a great fan base. Vegas will teer off. They’re excited to have a team, see where they end up in 15 years from now. Brand new teams count for shit. OttAwa is last because the owner is a fucking mental patient and can’t figure out to put the arena downtown. What happened two years ago when ottAwa had a game downtown? Sold out in less than 3 days. Their arena is in the most ridiculous end of town. I wouldn’t make the drive or bus it if I lived there. Zero chance.

I didn’t say all hot places do bad, but the vast majority.

Florida, Arizona, Anaheim, LA, Carolina have all been near the bottom.

I don’t think that phrase means what you think it means.

I just showed you a graphic where 6 of the 10 “hot weather” teams were above NHL average in their abilities to fill their buildings.

By bringing up things like how well the team is doing, or how easy the Arena is to get to for the fan base, you’ve just made my point.

“Hot weather” is at best a weak indicator of a team’s ability to put asses in seats, behind those two factors above and probably a few others.

If all teams in the NHL were at the same level of competition, and arenas were easy access downtown the hot places would be dead last. Tampa is doing alright because they have An amazing team. I will go pull the stats of when they had down years how well they did selling out games. Also teams like Vegas , it’s generally travellers. There is more oilers fans there than Golden Knight fans. And same with Arizona. Their fan base wouldn’t fill a quarter of the stadium. They are just lucky Canada is passionate.

In SC we call hockey “sitting in the air conditioning for 2 hours”
