Makes me feel terrible as a fan (and probably rightfully so).
At face value, I think the guy is so lucky to be living out my childhood dream. In reality, he’s struggling to live up to my dream and it’s virtually killing him.
Imagine how Devers felt during that 0-for to start season.
I remember when Duran had those struggles and it came to a head when he missed that flyball and seemed to just stand there to the tune of an inside-the-park grand slam. People were calling for his head. I know I was steamed over what I thought I was seeing.
I am glad he said something. I don’t think he’s being a crybaby either, I think he is just calling it like it is. And it definitely points to fans (me included) being more irrational than rational at times.
