I’m looking at the Celtics’ current salary cap status on spotrac.com.

If I am reading this correctly, even though the Celtics have waived Yabusele, his salary counts toward the 2019-20 cap.

So … if you’re paying him his salary, and that counts toward the cap anyway, why waive him? Why not keep him around, just in case?

Also, if I am reading this correctly, the Celtics can sign up to $14.7M more worth of players without having to pay a luxury tax?

Wish I was help. I don’t understand NBA caps much. But I do know the Celtics outside of Milwaukee will be a dangerous team. Toronto will make playoffs but won’t be near as good without Leonard. Durant will miss most the season for Brooklyn. Could be the Celtics chance.
