Martinez the goat!!! Will always remember 2004 even though I was only (I think) 16 at the time hahahaa, that is when I first started getting into baseball, but I go back and re-watch that 7 game series against the Yankees ALL the time! Beautiful and magical.
He is my favorite Red Sox of all-time. When Pedro was here, every 5th day felt like a holiday.
He was one of a kind and a true talent to watch! Absolutely clutch in the playoffs as well… Glad he finally got the monkey off his back and played a stellar game against the Yankees! A year to always remember.

I remember that comment like it was yesterday. For a time the Yankees did own Martinez pretty good, which made it even more sweet that he absolutely owned them in Game 5.
He was so dominant & couldn’t care less about pitch count.
