Raptor Resource Project on Facebook:
Remember when the nest fell on June 16th? We were all relieved that DN17 and DN18 were okay. It would have been so much worse if the nest had fallen just a week earlier! But we weren’t sure how we were going to rebuild it - rebuild number two here! - or whether or not DNF and Mr. North would accept it. John came up with a plan and we built a starter nest over a three day period in August. We made sure to leave some nice treats, which DNF greatly appreciated, but we were still relieved when both Norths visited the nest on September 7th - and even more so when DNF brought her first stick in on October 14!
Both Norths have been very busy with Nest Improvements and two-for-one sales at Nest Depot. We’ve seen plushy piles of soft grass, husks and stalks woven into the nest, and stick after stick after stick: straight, wonky, small, large, and the logs brought in by lumberjill DNF. I’ll need to do a stick count, but I think they’ve brought in north of 75 sticks, and possibly quite a few more than that!
A lot of you have asked just how much work they’ve done! We’re trying to quantify it based on what we can see of the nest’s architecture, but in the meantime, we hope you enjoy this time-lapse video!
Excellent news! Thanks for the update, Joolzie
